Die heiß geliebte Hündin und der vergessene Sohn
Warum fällt es manchen Menschen leichter, ein Tier statt des eigenen Kindes zu lieben?

Im März dieses Jahres verstarb die 67-jährige Wall-Street-Erbin Gail Posner an Krebs. Seit Jahren waren ihre einzigen Begleiter in ihrem von Langeweile und Depressionen geprägten Luxusdasein ihr Hund Conchita und die zahlreichen Hausangestellten, die sich vor allem um das Wohlergehen des Chihuahuas kümmern mussten. Der Kontakt mit dem Sohn wurde vor Jahren abgebrochen, das Verhältnis zwischen ihm und der Mutter wurde von allen als schwierig beschrieben.

Gail Posner hinterließ ein höchst ungewöhnliches Testament, das seit Monaten für heftige Diskussionen in den Medien und einen hartnäckigen Gerichtskampf seitens des Sohnes sorgt. Bret Carr, der Sohn der Hundeliebhaberin, besteht darauf, dass das Erbe an die Hündin um 3 Millionen Dollar und eine neun-Millionen-Luxusvilla gekürzt wird. Er selber hat „nur“ eine Million geerbt. Conchita wohnt in einer Luxusvilla zusammen mit zahlreichen Betreuern, die sie jede Woche in einem Luxusauto zur Maniküre fahren, danach mit ihr einen Ausflug in ein nobles Restaurant unternehmen und das kleine Luxustier mit viel Schmuck und Kleidung beschenken.
 
Der Sohn argumentiert damit, dass seine Mutter das Testament unter Drogeneinfluss und dem Druck des Postboten unterschrieben und bewilligt haben soll. In diesem Fall wäre das Testament ungültig, da Gail Posner nicht testierfähig gewesen wäre. Die Schuld am eher geringen Erbe und dem daraus folgenden angeblichen Mangel an Aufmerksamkeit seitens seiner Mutter schiebt er auf ihre seelischen und psychischen Probleme. Von der schwierigen Mutter-Kind Beziehung und dem kaum stattgefundenen Kontakt ist absolut keine Rede. Die unter Depressionen, psychischen Störungen und Drogenabhängigkeit leidende Gail Posner fand ihr Mutterglück in den letzten Jahren ihres Lebens in der Fürsorge und Liebe zu ihrer kleinen Hündin. Was aber in dem Erbrechtsstreit vollkommen übersehen wird, das ist die Frage, wie es überhaupt dazu kommen konnte, dass diese Frau ihren Hund mehr liebte als ihren eigenen Sohn.

Gail Posner stammte nicht aus perfekten Familienverhältnissen. Sie war die Tochter aus erster Ehe von Victor Posner, einem Millionär und erfolgreichen Karrieremenschen, der hinter der Kulisse ein ganz anderes Gesicht zeigte. Alkoholismus, Drogensucht, angeblich auch Missbrauch und Inzest prägten sein Leben und das Leben seiner Kinder. Nach seinem Tod hinterließ er laut einem ersten Testament sein ansehnliches Vermögen seinen Enkelkindern. In einem zweiten Testament aber sollte die Ex-Liebhaberin des Magnaten das Millionen-Erbe in Anspruch nehmen können. Nach einem hitzigen Gerichtsstreit wurde das Erbe seine Tochter Gail Posner zugeschrieben. Ihre Tochter Tina, die Schwester von Bret Carr, starb 1994 an einer Drogenüberdosis.

Die Familie Posner sorgt bereits seit Jahren für Schlagzeilen und allerhand Gesprächsstoff. Schon Victor Posner brach jeglichen Kontakt zu seinem Enkelsohn Bret Carr ab, nachdem dieser einen Scheckbetrug begangen hatte. Als eine Art Schrei nach Aufmerksamkeit produzierte der Enkel daraufhin den Film „Evolution“ (2006), in dem es um einen „gewalttätigen Straßenkämpfer und Extrem-Stotterer“ geht. Doch das führte nur dazu, dass das Verhältnis zur Familie noch schwieriger wurde.

Das Kind suchte nach Liebe und Aufmerksamkeit, die Mutter nach jemandem, dem sie ihre Liebe und Aufmerksamkeit schenken konnte. Doch sie fanden nicht zusammen. Dass dabei das Geld wohl eher im Weg stand als zu helfen, ist wohl kaum zu bestreiten. Genau so, wie man davon ausgehen kann, dass es dem Hund herzlich egal ist, ob er mit Diamanten behangen Gassi geht oder einfach nur so den nächsten Baum anstrullert.
