Postcrossing - Post aus aller Welt
Im Zeitalter des Internets, wo jeder nur noch Emails und Messages bekommt, ist ein Brief etwas ganz Besonderes.

In der Jugend und Kindheit hatte fast jeder einen Brieffreund. Man wartete jeden Tag auf den Postboten, in der Hoffnung, er möge uns einen Brief aus fernen Ländern bringen. Nun löst das Internet mit seinen Emails und den Social Communities die Brieffreundschaften systematisch ab. Aber gerade im Internet bilden sich wiederum Communities, die das Briefe- resp. Postkartenschreiben wieder beleben möchten. Eine Form davon nent sich Postcrossing.

Postcrossing ist inspiriert durch Bookcrossing, wo Bücher um die Welt reisen und „freigelassen“ werden. Beim Postcrossing geht es darum, Postkarten aus aller Welt zu erhalten. Es gilt die Faustregel: Wer eine Karte verschickt, der soll auch eine bekommen!

Um bei diesem Projekt teilnehmen zu können, sollte man ein wenig englisch schreiben können, da die Karten ja international verschickt werden und bestimmt nicht jeder deutsch versteht. Kosten und Aufwand sind gering: Zuerst muss man sich mit seiner Adresse auf der Seite postcrossing.com registrieren. Danach kann man eine fremde Adresse anfordern, die zufällig verschickt wird, das heißt, dass man sich das Zielland nicht aussuchen kann. Die Postkarte bekommt eine eindeutige ID zugewiesen, so dass man später im Internet sehen kann, ob die Karte angekommen ist. Nun braucht man nur noch das Geld für eine Postkarte (wobei es ja auch Gratis-Karten, etwa Werbeflyer in Form einer Postkarte, gibt) und das Geld für das Porto, und schon kann der Spaß beginnen!

Laut einer Statistik auf postcrossing.com ist eine Postcrossing-Postkarte im Schnitt 16,1 Tage unterwegs. 3,887,386 Karten wurden seit der Eröffnung des Projekts verschickt und diese sind zusammen 21,253,700,456 Kilometer rund um den Globus gereist.

Jetzt kann man sich natürlich fragen, was das Ganze soll. Für die meisten Postcrosser ist es wohl einfach nur ein Hobby, Karten selbst zu gestalten und zu verschicken, sowie die passenden Karten für den Empfänger auszuwählen und dadurch anderen eine Freude zu bereiten. Die Freude an empfangenen Postkarten ist natürlich auch groß.

Da man seine Adresse preisgibt, gibt es natürlich auch ein Risiko. Jeder Registrierte kann allerdings nur fünf Adressen auf einmal anfordern, so wird gewährleistet, dass die Adressen nicht für Werbezwecke verwendet werden. Es gibt natürlich, mit der Erstellung eines Profils, auch die Möglichkeit, Informationen über sich selbst zu veröffentlichen, aber das kann jeder für sich selbst entscheiden.

Ein weiterer Nachteil sind die schwarzen Schafe der Community. Da man nur fünf Adressen auf einmal anfordern kann, ist es wichtig, dass der Empfänger angibt, dass die Karte angekommen ist, damit man wieder Neue verschicken kann. Tut der Empfänger das nicht, muss man warten, bis das System diese Karten nach 60 Tagen automatisch löscht. Bei Mehrfachtätern wird allerdings der Account gesperrt.
