Call, Check und All-In - Pokern wird immer beliebter
Seit einigen Jahren erlebt das Pokerspiel einen unheimlichen Aufschwung.

Glücksspiel, vor allem Poker, kannte man bis vor einigen Jahren höchstens aus Westernfilmen, wo verruchte Gauner in den Saloons sich diesem sündigen Spiel widmeten. Dieses Bild ist längst Vergangenheit. Seit einigen Jahren wird überall gepokert: Privat zuhause, im Internet, im Fernsehen und natürlich im Casino. Dieses Spiel hat einen unvergleichlichen Aufschwung erlebt und auch sein Image wurde aufpoliert. Woran liegt das?

In den USA ist Pokern schon weit länger ein beliebtes Spiel, vor allem durch die World Series of Poker, eine Reihe von Turnieren in Las Vegas, war die Verbreitung unaufhaltbar. In Europa dauerte es länger, bis das Spiel salonfähig wurde. Zum einen lag das wohl daran, dass Pokern als Glücksspiel angesehen wird, was von sich aus schon ein negatives Bild vermittelt, zum anderen auch an der medialen Darstellung von Pokerspielen in Filmen, die am Ende gern mit einer Schlägerei endeten. Pokern ist zwar ein Glücksspiel, denn die Karten, die man bekommt, sind vom Zufall abhängig, aber es ist auch ein Strategiespiel, denn man selbst muss entscheiden wie viel man setzt, ob man die Runde mitgeht, blufft oder kein Risiko eingeht. Die psychologische Komponente ist nicht zu verachten: Man muss den Gegner genau beobachten und einschätzen können. Nicht die Karten entscheiden, sondern das eigene Handeln.

Mit der Verbreitung des Internets und dem Aufkommen des Online-Pokerspiels wurde das Kartenspiel immer beliebter. Nicht jeder geht gerne in ein Casino, daher ist das Spielen von Zuhause aus der einfachste Weg: Man braucht kein Bargeld, die Bedienung ist einfach und man kann anonym bleiben. Natürlich sinkt dabei auch die Hemmschwelle, Geld zu setzen, was der erste Schritt zu einer Spielsucht wäre. Wie in allen Dingen des Lebens sollte man alles „mit Maß und Ziel“ praktizieren. Spielen für den Spaß. In einem Interview mit RP-online sagte Thomas Dellbusch, ein Seminarleiter bei Rhinepoker, dass man beim Pokern lernen muss, seinen Spielzwang zu zügeln. „Um möglichst lange spielen zu können, muss der Spieler lernen, seine Karten in 80 Prozent der Fälle zu passen.“ Dadurch ist die Suchtgefahr angeblich nicht so hoch wie bei anderen Spielen. „Das Thema „Spielsucht“ würde sich von alleine erledigen, wenn anerkannt wird, dass Poker ein Gedulds- und Geschicklichkeitsspiel und kein Glücksspiel ist. Wer Poker für sich entdeckt, sucht die analytische, intellektuelle Herausforderung.“

Auch die Übertragung von Pokerturnieren im Fernsehen brachte dem Spiel mehr Prestige ein. Nicht nur auf den Sportkanälen, sondern auch auf „normalen“ Fernsehsendern werden sie ausgestrahlt, wodurch immer mehr Menschen in Kontakt mit dem Pokerspiel kommen und durch die Kommentare der Moderatoren sogar ein wenig die Strategien des Pokerns erlernen können. Dies wurde erst durch spezielle Kameras, die in den Tisch integriert sind, wodurch man einen Blick in die Karten der Spieler erhaschen kann, möglich. Oft wird auch noch die Gewinnwahrscheinlichkeit eingeblendet, wodurch man dem Spielverlauf einfacher folgen kann.

Pokern ist auch keine rein männliche Domäne, auch Frauen finden Spaß daran. In einer Studie von Jupiter Research im Dezember 2006, wo rund 5493 Online-Pokerspieler aus Deutschland befragt worden sind, waren schon ein Drittel weiblich.

Die beliebteste Pokervariante ist Texas Hold’em, bei der es fünf offene Karten gibt, die in die Mitte des Tisches gelegt werden. Mit diesen offenen Karten muss man nun seine eigene Hand ergänzen und hoffen, dass man ein gutes Blatt hat. Die beste Hand ist der Royal Flush in der man die höchsten Karten, die Zehn bis zum Ass, in einer Spielkartenfarbe haben muss.

Die Faszination des Pokerns erfasst immer mehr Leute und noch scheint der Hype darum kein Ende zu nehmen.
